Free plan B worksheet · No sign-up

When the plan changes: what is new, what stays and what do I need now?

A different time, a new place or a cancelled appointment sometimes changes more than a calendar entry. This worksheet separates the actual change from open questions and records a next step. You do not need a complete replacement plan immediately.

Keep the old and new plan side by side

Facts first: what was actually communicated?

Confirmed constants and open questions

Unknown details can remain unknown. Assumptions are not confirmed constants.

Choose a smaller replacement plan

The replacement plan does not need the same scope as the original.

Record communication and the next review point

A draft is not yet a confirmed agreement.

How to use the worksheet

Bound the change before replanning your entire day

1. Write down the specific change

Start small: what was planned and what new information is available? Distinguish a confirmed cancellation from a possible postponement. You do not need to enter a solution yet.

2. Separate unchanged and unknown details

Record only what is actually settled. It is fine to leave the constants field blank too. Give open questions their own list instead of silently turning them into assumptions.

3. Check your needs before plan B

You may first need time, a question answered or support. A valid small version consists only of the new information and one next question. Cancelling or postponing can be part of the decision.

4. Make agreements specific

Draft a short message with the change, your need and the next review point. If another person needs to agree, mark the replacement plan as open until they reply.

A completed example

A meeting moves to another place

The example plan deliberately distinguishes known, unknown and not yet agreed. It does not promise that this will make a change easy.

Old
Saturday at 2 pm in the familiar café, with a friend.
New
The café is closed. My friend suggests another place; the address is still missing.
Constant
My friend has confirmed they will still attend. Time and the way back remain open.
Plan B
Clarify the address and noise level first. Then suggest a short visit or a walk.
Message
Please send me the address. I will check the route and let you know by noon whether the place works for me.

Common questions

How does this differ from the transition plan?

The transition plan prepares a switch between activities or places. This worksheet helps you sort out a change to the existing plan. If needed, you can then prepare the new transition.

What if I cannot find a confirmed constant?

Leave the field blank. You do not have to present anything still unclear as certain. Instead, note the most important open question and who could answer it.

Do I have to decide on plan B immediately?

No. A first step can be asking for information or saying you need time. If others are affected, also clarify when a decision is needed.

Is this worksheet only for diagnosed autistic people?

No. It is mainly intended for autistic adults, but anyone who finds written guidance useful during changes can try it. It is not diagnosis or therapy.

Are my agreements saved or sent?

No. The worksheet sends no messages and saves no entries. Copy or print your text before closing or reloading the page.

After agreeing
