How to use the worksheet
Return with one current attempt
Choose a self-chosen routine
Use the card for a personal everyday sequence, such as closing your desk. Check time-bound duties and professional instructions separately at their source.
Check purpose and one concrete obstacle
Ask whether the sequence is still needed and what did not fit recently. Change only the cue, scope or material for the next attempt instead of rebuilding everything at once.
Short version: purpose, cue, first step, ending
These four details are enough to begin. For voluntary everyday sequences, the new attempt is not a combined assignment for skipped rounds. Existing obligations remain separate.
Record the attempt and actual status separately
Mark the action as done only after doing it. Note a next review; no reminder is set. Copy or print before closing or reloading.
A completed example
Example: return to closing your desk in a smaller form
Fictional example for illustration. Adjust times, tasks and responsibilities to your circumstances.
- Which personal routine and current purpose?
- Fictional: Alex has skipped the self-chosen desk closing routine three times. The purpose remains a usable space for the next working day.
- What did not fit recently; what applies today?
- The previous list was too long. Papers are on the desk today; Alex checks which are still needed for active work.
- Next suitable cue and needed material
- Start after closing the laptop at the next actual end of work. A tray is ready; confidential papers stay in the approved location.
- My first visible step
- Check one loose sheet and put it in the tray if it is no longer needed for the current step. Do not discard papers without checking.
- Smaller version and clear ending
- The smaller version ends after placing this one sheet in the tray. This is the scope of the attempt, not three accumulated closings. Open tasks remain separate.
- Actual status and next review
- The card is prepared; the attempt has not happened. At the following end of work, check whether the cue and scope fit. The note changes neither app progress nor reminders.
