Plan an outing from the meeting point to the return home
You have agreed on a meeting point. Now record what you need before leaving, on the way and when you return. Separate checked details from open questions and proposed alternatives. This worksheet connects the stages of one outing; you check routes, opening times and bookings yourself.

How to use the worksheet
Look at the outward journey, visit and return together
Separate agreed details from open questions
Take the meeting point and start from the actual agreement. Check opening times and booking requirements with the responsible source. A saved plan is not automatically current.
Prepare your own departure
Connect planned arrival, journey, preparation and a reasoned buffer. Choose times for your own circumstances. The worksheet does not calculate them; the linked buffer guide can help with the method.
Short version: destination, checked routes, necessary items
If full planning is too much, record these three areas. Leave out optional extra stops. Necessary personal support and individual requirements remain part of the plan.
Discuss changes and include the return
Record whom to contact if things change and what still needs agreeing. Check the return route too, rather than ending the plan on arrival. Copy or print before closing.
A completed example
Example: a fictional museum visit with a personal journey plan
Fictional example for illustration. Adjust times, tasks and responsibilities to your circumstances.
- Destination, meeting point and agreed start
- Fictional: Sam and I meet at the museum entrance at 2 pm. Check the address, opening times and any booking requirement with the responsible source beforehand.
- Outward route, arrival and information status
- In this fictional example, allow 30 minutes to walk and plan to arrive at 1:50 pm. Check the actual suitable route and current restrictions before leaving.
- Preparation, departure and personal buffer
- Example: begin preparation at 1 pm, leave at 1:20 pm, arrive at 1:50 pm and meet at 2 pm. The ten minutes before the start are my own buffer, not a general rule.
- Things needed and what is ready
- Keys are ready. Check whether a booking confirmation is needed and pack it if required. Add personally necessary items according to my own requirements.
- Backup plan, contact and agreement still needed
- If the route or meeting point is unavailable, contact Sam through the agreed channel. A different time or destination remains a proposal until we have both responded.
- Return route, arrival home and short version
- Before leaving, check the return route and intended return time too. At home, put keys and bag away. Short version: destination, checked outward/return routes and necessary items; skip optional extra stops.
