End of the workday: record your progress and stop for today

You do not have to finish every task today to record where it stands. Note where you stopped, how you will restart and what needs agreeing first. Use this at the end of your working hours, including after a shift or when working from home.

Keep a note of unfinished work

Record the current position without planning a whole new day.

Make arrangements explicit

Note who needs which information and by when.

Close for today

Choose a concrete ending rather than another task.

How to use the worksheet

Make this a short list of your own

Record only the progress you need

Pick the unfinished task that would be unclear to restart. Name the actual position and file location rather than writing “continue working”.

Separate arrangements from personal planning

A written handover is not a sent message. Send necessary information and clarify responsibility or deadlines before leaving.

Short version: position, next step, close

With limited capacity: one sentence on progress, one specific next action, any necessary handover, then save the file. Finish at the agreed end of your working hours.

Keep the evening out of the catch-up plan

A checklist cannot resolve excessive workload. Clarify priorities and availability with the people involved. At your next work session, read the note before collecting new tasks.

A completed example

Example: handing over an unfinished quote

Fictional example for illustration. Adjust times, tasks and responsibilities to your circumstances.

Task and current position
Quote: introduction done; pricing table missing. File: Quote-draft.
First step when I restart
Open the pricing table and enter material costs.
Update or handover
Sam needs the draft; send a short note about the unfinished section.
Deadline and next review
Due Thursday; check for a reply Wednesday at 9.
Closing action for today
Save the file, send the message and close work windows.
Boundary and transition
Working hours end at 17:00. Leave the workspace afterwards; agree on-call duties separately.

Common questions

Do I need to finish everything before leaving work?

No. Record unfinished work and the next step. Urgent handovers, safety requirements and agreed availability depend on your job and need clarifying. This template does not replace staffing or prioritization decisions.

Do I need to fill in every field?

No. Leave irrelevant fields blank and use the short version in the guide. Example text is a placeholder; enter your own text before copying or printing.

Are my entries saved?

Entries stay only in the open page. Copy or print them before closing or reloading it. There is no automatic saving or connection to your MeinSystem account.

Can I use this without an account or keep a PDF?

Yes. Fill in the fields without signing in and copy the text. “Print” opens your browser’s print dialog; choose “Save as PDF” if available. “Clear” removes all entries.
